What Is Keeping You From God.  SIN

Sin it means to miss the Mark It gives you a picture of you being an arrow and God aiming you at a target because He has a purpose and a bull’s eye for your life.

But because of Sin it throws us away from that purpose.

If you ask forgiveness of your sins and start to walk with God he will put you back on the bulls eye for the purpose of your life START TODAY.

God’s word says 1 John 1:9“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”NKJV

Not only that he will throw your sins into the deepest part of the ocean never to bring it up again. Mic 7:19 “He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.”KJV

When I say purpose and on track in your life I’m talking about hitting the bull’s eye for your life marriage home salvation calling and purpose. Sin makes us miss it all.

And the reason why I called it this,  Is because I want us to understand when you are in a situation where you don’t know what to do or you don’t see how it can be done you fast.

When you’re in a situation where you need God to do a miracle You fast

I have been telling God the reason why I am fasting is because its beyond me I have done all I can do know God show me do a miracle help us because I don’t know what to do God.

We see a great example of this.  Ezra proclaimed a fast and God moved ..Ezra 8:21-23“Then I proclaimed a fast there at the river of Ahava, that we might humble ourselves before our God, to seek from Him the right way for us and our little ones and all our possessions. 22 For I was ashamed to request of the king an escort of soldiers and horsemen to help us against the enemy on the road, because we had spoken to the king, saying,”The hand of our God is upon all those for good who seek Him, but His power and His wrath are against all those who forsake Him.” 23 So we fasted and entreated our God for this, and He answered our prayer.”NKJV

Ezra’s whole approach to this trip was a spiritual one; because he knew and told God if you hand of God wasn’t with them, everything would fail. But to receive the blessing and help of God, they had to humble themselves and seek His face, so Ezra called for three days of fasting and prayer, asking God to protect them on their long journey.

He had already told Artaxerxes that God’s good hand was upon him and the Jews, so how could he then ask for human help? Ezra was relying on God’s covenant with Abraham

The Lord gave Ezra special faith for this journey because He knew that Ezra’s desire was only to glorify God.

And church that’s our desire so that God would be glorified

When you consider the factors involved in this expedition, you can see what great faith Ezra possessed. Here were several thousand Jews, inexperienced in travel and warfare, carrying a fortune in gold and silver, led by a scholar, not a soldier, and planning to travel through dangerous territory that was infested with enemies , and yet their leader didn’t want an army to protect them! If anybody deserves the “Great Faith Award,” it’s Ezra!

Moses was the first recorded faster in the Bible

God’s Word assumes that fasting will be a regular part of a Christian’s life.

The root word for fasting means not to eat

But what does this “not eating” food mean? Why did people in the Bible “not eat?” We find a clue in Leviticus 16:29. This verse says that fasting “afflicting one’s soul.”

We gain some insight here about how the Hebrews viewed fasting. Fasting is more than just “afflicting one’s body”. It is “afflicting one’s soul.”

In other words, fasting in the Hebrew mind is something my soul participates in.

Fasting is denying myself. It is denying not only my own body, but also my own wants. It is a way of saying that food and my desires are secondary to something else. Fasting is “afflicting one’s soul” — an act of self-denial.

Of course, denying yourself food to focus on God and His program shows humility. That is why fasting is also the equivalent of the phrase “to humble oneself before the Lord” (Psalm 35:13; 1 Kings 21:29; Ezra 8:21). When a person is really concerned about the things of God, he will humble himself. There will be times when he will abstain from the enjoyment of food to continue concentration and focus on that which is important to God.

Jesus spoke about fasting, he didn’t say if you fast, but “when you fast” (Matthew 6:16). Our Lord assumes that Christians will fast.

‘When is it appropriate to fast?‘ We find more occasions when the people of God fasted. God’s people fasted in these situations:

Mourning someone’s death: We see fasting and mourning connected in 1 Samuel 31:13; 1 Chronicles 10:12; 2 Samuel 1:12; and 2 Samuel 3:35. In these situations fasting showed the sorrow that the people felt over the loss of someone God used in their lives.

Mourning sin in repentance and confession: Examples of this are found in Deuteronomy 9:18; 1 Samuel 7:6; 1 Kings 21:27; Ezra 10:6; Jonah 3:5; and Acts 9:3-9. When people wished to demonstrate that they were serious about repenting from their sin, they fasted. Our willingness to sacrifice shows the depth of our commitment and in this case fasting is a pictorial way of saying to the Lord, “I care more about getting right with You, God, than I do about even my own life.” So a good occasion for fasting is when we are truly grieving over our sins.

A situation of impending danger; for protection: There are occasions when death or danger threaten us.

Direction: Fasting helps us find God’s will. If we expect God to reveal his direction for our lives, we must put Him first. Often this means putting aside the fulfillment of our physical appetites, so that we can focus our attention on Him.

Sickness: There are two examples in Scripture of fasting on behalf of those who are sick: 2 Samuel 12:15-23; Psalm 35:13. Both of these examples come from the life of David. In Psalm 35:13 David says, “Yet when they were sick, I put on clothes of sadness and showed my sorrow by going without food.” David saw fasting as a way to ask God for physical healing in the lives of other people.

The ordination of missionaries or church leaders: Fasting appears to have been a regular part of the ordination of church leaders and missionaries. Acts 13, the calling of Paul and Barnabas for missionary service. Verse 3 tells us that after they received this direction from the Lord, then they ordained them for missionary service by prayer, fasting and laying their hands upon them.

Special revelation: The final occasion for fasting is for special revelation. Exceptional insights from God were sometimes given to the prophets and others during periods of fasting.

Neh 1:3-4 ”And they said to me, “The survivors who are left from the captivity in the province are there in great distress and reproach. The wall of Jerusalem is also broken down, and its gates are burned with fire.” 4 So it was, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned for many days; I was fasting and praying before the God of heaven.”NKJV

Est 4:16″Go, gather all the Jews who are present in Shushan, and fast for me; neither eat nor drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will fast likewise. And so I will go to the king, which is against the law; and if I perish, I perish!” NKJV

Fasting, It’s what men and women of God knew that Got God’s attention in times where they knew only God can come through.

Fasting is one of those weapons that are not carnal but mighty through God in pulling down strongholds.

Plain and simple Fasting is a Weapon that Satan does not want you to use…

2 Chron 20:3“And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the Lord, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.”KJV

Even a pagan nation of unbelievers knew that if they show there seriousness in fasting that God was going to wipe them of the face of the earth so they fasted and changed God’s mind.

Jonah 3:5-10“So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them. 6 For word came unto the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and he laid his robe from him, and covered him with sackcloth, and sat in ashes. 7 And he caused it to be proclaimed and published through Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste any thing: let them not feed, nor drink water: 8 But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily unto God: yea, let them turn every one from his evil way, and from the violence that is in their hands. 9 Who can tell if God will turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not? 10 And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.”KJV

We see Jehoshaphat he had a huge army that in the physically he could not destroy or win and what Weapon did King Jehoshaphat choose he chose the Weapon of fasting and the results was miraculous We need the Miraculous for so many reason..

2 Chron 20:2-4 “Some men came and told Jehoshaphat, “A vast army is coming against you from Edom, from the other side of the Sea. It is already in Hazazon Tamar” (that is, En Gedi).   3 Alarmed, Jehoshaphat resolved to inquire of the Lord, and he proclaimed a fast for all Judah. 4 The people of Judah came together to seek help from the Lord; indeed, they came from every town in Judah to seek him.”NIV  Read the end results of the fast.

WHAT WE ARE DOING AS A CHURCH IS CALLED PUBLIC OR COPERATE FAST.

JEREMIAH 36:6 “ON A FAST DAY..YOU SHALL READ THE WORDS OF THE LORD.”

JOEL 2:15 “SANCITIFY A FAST; CALL A SOLEMN ASSEMBLY.”

JESUS SAID  WHEN YOU FAST..NOT IF YOU FAST BUT WHEN

MATTHEW 6:16  “When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show men they are fasting. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full.”

JESUS WANTED THIS IN THERE LIFES.. JESUS IS IMPLYING THAT THEY KNEW THEY WERE CALLED TO FAST…

Oms. Heaven is READY TO BEND ITS EAR TO LISTEN WHEN SOMEONE PRAYS WITH FASTING.

FASTING IS SOMETHING THAT WE DO UNTO GOD…

ZECHARIAH 7:5 “WHEN YE FASTED…DID YE AT ALL FAST UNTO ME, EVEN UNTO ME?”

WE FORGET THAT…..GOD IS TELLING HIS PEOPLE REMEMBER YOU ARE FASTING BECAUSE OF ME

LISTEN WHEN YOU FAST….. It builds your Spiritual Muscles but like the saying Goes no pain no gain.

THOSE THAT OPPOSE FASTING WILL TELL YOU..

DO BE CAREFUL YOU COULD SERIOUSLY IMPAIR YOUR HEALTH, LIVING SUCH A BUSY LIFE YOU CANNOT AFFORD TO GET RUN DOWN

OH YOU CAN’T YOU MIGHT CAUSE AN INJURY..  We must remember they act like we are drinking alcohol you are not drunk but just absent from food.

THE DISCIPLES OF JOHN ASKED JESUS A LEGITIMATE QUESTION THEY WERE OBSERVING THE DISCIPLES AND NOTICED THEY HAD NO FASTING SKILLS

MATTHEW 9:14-15“Then came to him the disciples of John, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees fast oft, but thy disciples fast not?15 And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bridechamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? but the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then shall they fast.”

MATTHEW 9:15 “WHEN THE BRIDEGROOM IS TAKEN AWAY FROM THEM THEN THEY WILL FAST.”

JESUS GIVES THIS  REASON TO THE RELIGIOUS FOLK OF HIS DAY.

THE BRIDE GROOM WAS STILL THERE WITH THE WEDDING GUEST….. IT WAS A SEASON OF FEASTING NOT FASTING OF REJOICING NOT MOURNING

JESUS TELL’S THE PEOPLE OF HIS DAY… OH BELIEVE ME MY PEOPLE WILL FAST WHEN IM GONE

HE SHOWS US

  • •THERE IS GOING TO BE A NEED FOR PEOPLE TO FAST.
  • •FAST IS WHAT HE DESIRES HIS PEOPLE WILL DO.
  • •FASTING WILL DO ALOTAND ALSO BE FOR STRENGTH WHEN HE IS NOT HERE PHYSICALLY ON EARTH.
  • •IT’S A POWERFUL WEAPON THAT NEEDS TO BE UNLEASHED.

Respectfully Pastor Tim Echevarria

I want us to know that when we pray and FAST  we move in the Supernatural power of God.  Something’s can only be done by Prayer and fasting.

It was Jesus that let The disciples know why they couldn’t cast out a demon or have power over the power of Satan because of the issue of Prayer and fasting.

Matt 17:16-21 “And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him. 17 Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me.18 And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour. 19 Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. 21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.”KJV

This father had a son that was always trying to commit suicide  and through himself in the fire this father told Jesus I took him to your disciples could not help him or cure him.

Jesus said oh faithless and perverse generation.   You see our faith needs to drive us into fasting

The bottom line is the disciples where curious “Jesus how come we couldn’t  cast out the demon and you could?”

Jesus said because of your lack of faith. And he said remember something  there is something’s that  will only be done as you pray and fast.

He said this kind!  This kind of demonic influences and this kind of power can only be defeated by prayer and fasting.

Church there are some things you are praying for,  but what you are praying and believing for  that kind only comes out by praying and fasting.

There are times you need to fast and pray

Prayer attaches us to God And fasting detaches us from the flesh  and gets you into the spirit and that is needed in our day in age.

Now listen the disciples could have said how did we know that we would be dealing with a possessed boy how could we have fasted if we didn’t even know when to fast and we were going to run into this kind Jesus.

And this is exactly the point Jesus is bringing out.  Jesus is calling us for a lifestyle of prayer and fasting something we do on a regular basis.  Because Satan is still after our children still after our families and the will of God in our life’s.

Paul even said we need to be ready in season and out of season

2 Tim 4:2-3 “Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season;”NIV

You see we should be people of fasting and praying without anyone telling us anything or waiting for a fast to come up.

Reality is we don’t know when we will run into a situation in our life’s and families when we will need the power of the spirit to combat a demonic force and we stand up to it only to find ourselves coming up short like the disciples .

Praying and fasting should be part of our lifestyles like Jesus  because we don’t know what tomorrow holds.  When you look into our text we discover that this only son was in great trouble and danger.

Matthew recorded that the boy was an epileptic (lunatic), very ill, and suicidal, falling into the fire and the water. Mark described him as a mute, who often fell to the ground foaming at the mouth and grinding his teeth. After this display, the boy would go into a kind of rigor mortis. Luke said that the boy was an only son and that he would scream as he went into these convulsions. While some of these symptoms can have natural causes, this boy was at the mercy of a demon.

The disciples had been helpless to do anything. No wonder the father rushed to Jesus’ feet.

Our Lord’s first response was one of sorrow. And He embarrassed disciples, the arguing scribes, and the needy father and son, He groaned inwardly and said, “How long shall I be with you, and put up with you?” Their unbelief and spiritual perversity were a burden to Him. What must our Lord feel as He looks at powerless believers today?

Jesus delivered the boy and commanded the spirit never to return to him

The nine disciples should have been able to cast out the demon. Jesus had given them this power and authority But somehow, they had lost their power! When they asked Jesus the cause of their shameful failure, He told them: their lack of faith,  their lack of prayer, and their lack of FASTING.

Like Samson, they went out to battle without realizing that their power was gone.

Judges 16:20“Then she called, “Samson, the Philistines are upon you!” He awoke from his sleep and thought, “I’ll go out as before and shake myself free.” But he did not know that the Lord had left him.”NIV

From their example, we see the importance of staying spiritually healthy.  And the Importance of prayer and fasting.

Had the nine disciples been praying, disciplining themselves, and meditating on the Word, they would have been able to cast out the demon and rescue the boy.

Listen to me when you and I fast our faith to will be rewarded.  We will see results The Supernatural Power of God comes into our life’s when we FAST and we need It.

Reality is people are counting on you to have the good’s it’s done by a life of prayer and fasting.  there are many people like thsi boy all around us and God wanst you Supernaturally ready.

Respectfully pastor Tim Echevarria

There are some realities that we need to know about fasting I have listed a few that are good to know,  and also good to know if you’re curious about some of the things that happen during fasting to you and your body.

I want us to know that fasting shows you who you really are and that’s nothing without God.  Face it we are addicts to food you might say no I’m not well watch and see when you start to fast you go through withdrawals, pain desires for Mc Donald’s you get irritated, upset, mad you start to dream and fiend for food we are addicts to food fasting is saying God I want to be an addict for you I can’t get enough of you and I crave you.   So will it be a sacrifice of course and there will be a fight… But it’s a good fight.

FOR MANY PEOPLE THEY THINK OF CHRISTIANS FASTING AS FANATICAL OUR GOING TO THE EXTREME AND UNHEALTHY

FASTING IS GOOD FOR YOU AND ALSO IT PUTS IN CHECK OUR FLESH AND SHOWS YOUR BODY WHO IS BOSS…YOU WILL OBEY AND HONOR GOD.

PEOPLE DON’T LIKE TO HEAR THE WORD FASTING

WE THINK OF PAIN NOT HEALING WE THINK OF DEATH INSTEAD OF LIFE WE THINK OF BEING BOUND AND LOCKED DOWN INSTEAD OF BEING FREE AND LIBERATED WE THINK OF PHYSICAL AND NOT SPIRITUAL WE THINK EARTHLY AND NOT HEAVENLY

BY NATURE WE WANT TO GET OUR GRUB ON

AND THAT’S ME TOO…BUT FASTING IS NEEDED IN OUR LIFES

A LOT OF PEOPLE SAY  “I CANT FAST”

THIS IS SOMETHING THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE THINK AND SAY DURING TIMES WHEN THE CHURCH WANTS TO FAST… I CANT GO WITHOUT FOOD…   IM HERE TO TELL YOU (YOU CAN FAST)  GOD WILL HELP YOU… THE QUESTION IS YOU CAN FAST IF YOU RELY ON GOD’S HELP AND POWER..

The people that shouldn’t fast without food are those that are pregnant, or have some disease or sickness such as diabetes or taking a medication that food is recommended.  But remember if you are one of these people you still can fast maybe not with food but with other things such as anything that includes technology, phones, computers T.V, facebook twitter internet etc.   That’s a whole other monster to attack.  But you can fast on something.  Something that makes you pay a price.

YOU’RE GOING TO FEEL SOME PAIN YOUR NOT GOING TO FEEL LIKE YOU HAVE A LOT OF MUSCLE PHYSICALLY

FASTING WILL HURT AND MAKE YOU FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE AND THERE WILL BE SOME PAIN IT WILL BE STRENUOUS!

FASTING IS NOT FOR LOSING WEIGHT? THOUGH YOU WILL..

AVERAGE LOSS OF WEIGHT PER DAY FASTING 2 POUNDS PEOPLE OVER WEIGHT WILL LOSE MORE THAN TWO POUNDS A DAY.

Many are afraid they will get sucked up or lose muscle reality is fasting causes your body to eat stored fat not muscle..

SOME HELPS FOR FASTING

IT TAKES 24 HOURS TO DISCHARGE ALL CONTENTS OUT OF BOWELS OUR BOWELS ARE 25 FEET LONG WITHOUT NO FOOD IT CEASES TO FUNCTION AFTER THE FAST THEY WILL WORK EVEN BETTER..

WHAT IF YOU GET DIZZINESS? IT USUALLY A TEMPORARY SYMPTOM IT IS SOMETIMES CAUSED BY A SUDDEN CHANGE OF POSITION ESPECIALLY SITTING UP FROM THE LYING POSITION.  THE REMEDY MOVE SLOWLY

SLEEPLESSNESS:  THIS SOMETIMES DUE TO THE FACT THE MIND IS OVERACTIVE IT IS WISE TO AVOID ANY CONCENTRATED MENTAL ACTIVITY BEFORE RESISTING AND RESIST THE TEMPTATION TO SLEEP DURING THE DAY.

FOUL BREATH. CERTS..HALLS IT WILL PROVIDE RELIEF.

DRINKING WATER; SOME SAY DRINK AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE IT CLEANSES YOUR SYSTEM AND FLUSHES EVERYTHING OUT SOME SAY LET YOUR BODY DETERMINE BY THIRST.

THEY SAY SIPPING WATER DOES HELP THE CRAVING OF FOOD AND SPASMS OF WEAKNESS…

IT MAY BE TAKEN HOT OR COLD BUT NOT GOOD TO TAKE CHILLED WATER OR LUKEWARM, A SLICE OF LEMON IN WATER JUG WILL TAKE AWAY ANY FUNNY TASTE IN MOUTH.

PRACTICAL MEASURES TO KEEP IN MIND FOR FASTING.

A DAILY SHOWER OR BATH WITH WARM BUT NOT HOT WATER.

DEEP BREATHING CONCENTRATING ON EXHALING AS FULLY AS POSSIBLE

REGULAR EXERCISE (NOT TO STRENUOUS) EXCEPT WERE THERE IS GREAT WEAKNESS.

REMEMBER FASTING WILL HELP YOU NOT KILL YOU SO RELAX AND ENJOY YOUR FAST

There is so many Victories that Fasting accomplishes  and I want to list a Few of them so you can be blessed.  I also want you to know why men and woman of God fasted. Here are some of the reason why the people of God fasted.  may they be yours as well.

1.] IT’S TO BE HEARD ON HIGH!

EZRA 8:23 “SO WE FASTED AND BESOUGHT OUR GOD FOR THIS, AND HE LISTENED TO OUR ENTREATY.”

FASTING IS HERE CONNECTED WITH SEEKING GOD DRAWING NEAR TO GOD, PREVAILING WITH GOD..

2.] ITS FOR PERSONAL SANCTITY!

PSALM 69:10 “I HUMBLED MY SOUL WITH FASTING

SANCTITY MEANS: PURITY, SACRED, SEPERATED CONSECRATED, HOLINESS  SAINTLINESS

IT IS A DISCIPLINE OF THE BODY, FASTING IS A DIVINE CORRECTIVE TO THE PRIDE OF THE HUMAN HEART,

3.] FASTING IS ALSO TO CHANGE GODS MIND!

JONAH 3:5,10 “THE PEOPLE OF NINEVEH BELIEVED GOD; THEY PROCLAIMED A FAST..10.] WHEN GOD SAW WHAT THEY DID..GOD REPENTED OF THE EVIL WHICH HE HAD SAID HE WOULD DO TO THEM.”

IT COULD CHANGE THE COURSE OF NATIONS LIFE’S DESTINY’S IT CAN CHANGE GODS MIND TO RESTORE INSTEAD OF DESTROY.

4.] TO FREE THE CAPTIVES TO DELIVER PEOPLE

ISAIAH 58:6 “IS NOT THIS THE FAST THAT I CHOOSE: TO LOOSE THE BONDS OF WICKEDNESS TO UNDO THE THONGS OF THE YOKE, TO LET THE OPPRESSED GO FREE, AND TO BREAK EVERY YOKE?”

5.] FOR REVELATION

DANIEL 9:2,3,21,22 “I DANIEL TURNED MY FACE TO THE LORD GOD.  SEEKING HIM IN PRAYER AND SUPPLICATIONS WITH FASTING…GABRIEL..SAID TO ME, O DANIEL I HAVE NOW COME OUT TO GIVE YOU WISDOM AND UNDERSTANDING.”

6.] TO DISCIPLINE PUT IN CHECK THE BODY.

1 CORINTHIANS 9:27 “BUT I KEEP MY BODY AND BRING IT INTO SUBJECTION: LEST THAT BY ANY MEANS, WHEN I HAVE PREACHED TO OTHERS, I MYSELF SHOULD BE DISQUALIFIED.”

7.] FOR GOD TO MOVE

2 CHRONICLES 20:2-6 “Then there came some that told Jehoshaphat, saying, There cometh a great multitude against thee from beyond the sea on this side Syria; and, behold, they be Hazazon-tamar, which is En-gedi.3 And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the LORD, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.4 And Judah gathered themselves together, to ask help of the LORD: even out of all the cities of Judah they came to seek the LORD.5 And Jehoshaphat stood in the congregation of Judah and Jerusalem, in the house of the LORD, before the new court,6 And said, O LORD God of our fathers, art not thou God in heaven? and rulest not thou over all the kingdoms of the heathen? and in thine hand is there not power and might, so that none is able to withstand thee?

8.]FOR POWER OVER SATAN AND SICKNESS AND HEALING

MATTHEW 17:18-21“And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour.19 Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.”21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.”

Jesus tells us   21 “HOWBEIT THIS KIND GOETH NOT OUT BUT BY PRAYER AND FASTING.”

FASTING PUTS YOU BACK IN LINE WITH GOD… FASTING MAKES YOU SENSITIVE TO THE VOICE OF GOD FASTING BRINGS REVIVAL TO THE SOUL AND TO THE CHURCH!

This is just a Few benefits and Victories’ of Fasting take this time to have a deep relationship with God and take advantage of the power of fasting.

Fasting I want God to KNOW me!

Posted: January 2, 2012 in Uncategorized

Good Morning To New Harvest and for anyone how would like to Fast with us on our 5 day fast Starting Today 1-2-12 starting the New Year right and Ending Friday the 6th after service.

Our Theme is That God may KNOW us. Matt 7:23 “Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’ NIV

We want God to know us… I just want you to know you can do it.  I will be putting things on face book to help us through..

Isa 58:6 “Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?”NIV

FIRST OF ALL WE NEED TO KNOW THAT FASTING GETS GOD’S ATTENTION ITS SHOWS WE MEAN BUSINESS GOD I REALLY NEED YOU.

THE BIBLE TELLS US HERE IN OUR TEXT THAT GOD HAS ORDAINED FASTING HE MADE IT UP….TO LOOSE THE CHAINS OF IN JUSTICE AND UNTIE THE CORDS OF STRONGHOLDS, SINS SICKNESSES AND TO SET THE OPPRESSED FREE.

Biblical fasting is “not eating” with spiritual communication and reading his word  in mind. How do we know this? Because Biblical fasting always occurs together with prayer in the Bible – ALWAYS.

You can pray without fasting, but you cannot fast (Biblically speaking) without praying.

Biblical fasting is deliberately abstaining from food for a spiritual reason: communication and relationship with the Father.

Fasting is an expression of wholeheartedness. This is clear from Joel’s call to the nation of Israel: Joel 2:12″Yet even now,” says the Lord, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting. . .”

Andrew Murray said, “Fasting helps to express, to deepen, and to confirm the resolution that we are ready to sacrifice anything – to sacrifice ourselves – to attain what we seek for the kingdom of God.”.

So why fast? To demonstrate that we are seeking God “with all our heart.” Fasting puts things in proper focus. It is a physical way of saying, “Food and the things of this life are not as important to me now as The will of God and the mind of God and the plan of God .”

Fasting is the most powerful spiritual discipline of all the Christian disciplines. Through fasting and prayer, and reading the word of God  the Holy Spirit can transform your life.

If you fast, you will find yourself being humbled and OH,  how we need this. You will discover more time to pray and seek God’s face. And as He leads you to recognize and repent of unconfessed sin, you will experience special blessings from God.

Biblical fasting, unlike fasting for medical or health reasons, must be done with an attitude of seriousness and sincerity. When we fast, we willingly deprive the body of nourishment and the pleasurable taste of food. The body requires food for sustenance; therefore our hearts and minds must be totally focused and directed towards God so that He may be the full source of our strength during our period of fasting.  Fasting must also be done in an attitude of humility.

Biblical Fasting – What are the benefits of Christian fasting?

Biblical fasting brings us into a closer union with God. While our bodies are being deprived for the purpose of drawing near to God, He has promised in return to draw near to us. This is a spiritual certainty. As we decrease, the Spirit increases. As individuals we are strengthened and renewed. 2 Corinthians 4:16 “. . .Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day” .

While this verse applies to our eternal destiny, the principle applies to our daily sojourn; as we humble and deprive our bodies through fasting, our spiritual man is made stronger and our senses more acute.

This principle served the apostles well during the early church days. Their decisions were made through fasting and prayer; God gave them instructions and directions. Acts 13:2-3 “While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, ‘Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.’ So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent them off”

OMS. IF THERE IS A LOCAL CHURCH THREATENED WITH DISCORD AND DIVISION, IF SPIRITUAL LIFE IS WANING AND WORLDLINESS ABOUNDING, IF CONVERSIONS ARE FEW AND BACKSLIDINGS FREQUENT, WOULD NOT THIS BE A TIME WHEN LEADER WHEN PEOPLE OF THE CHURCH TO PRAY AND FAST?

WHEN EMERGENCY ARISES THE PEOPLE OF GOD CALLED FOR FASTS…  AND WE ALWAYS FIND WITHOUT EXCEPTION GOD RESPONDED IN DELIVERANCE..

I will be listing many things to help us with Fasting stay posted.

If you get hungry EAT God’s word… it will fill you

YOU CAN DO THIS NEW HARVEST MADERA  You can post question or comments and we will answer them.
